Ruth Adkins 83, of Glover, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
Born July 6, 1934 in Tamcliff, she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Alice Moore Ferrell.
Ruth worked in Brenton for many years at Millers Grocery, she was also a greeting card distributer. Ruth was a people person, and made countless friends where ever she went. She loved cooking for her family, and had a genuine love for helping those in need, she did whatever she could to help somebody.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Mack Adkins, her daughter-in-law Vanessa Adkins, a special sister-in-law, Trish Woods, and 8 brothers, and 3 sisters, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Dave Adkins and his wife Lisa, her daughter Misty Thompson and her husband David, her grandchildren Dr. Joanna Bailey and her husband David, Devyn Thompson, Leigh-Ann Thompson, Mackenzie Thompson, Keli Kara Adkins, Benjamin Bailey, Justin Church, and Brandon Church, special friends and neighbor Bertha Walker and her children, special niece, Connie Whitt and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Services celebrating the life of Ruth Adkins will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville with Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her husband in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:30am until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
