Ruth's Story

Ruth Rollins, 93, of Kopperston, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 5, 2018. She passed away at home with her family after a long illness.
Ruth was born on February 19, 1925 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Milton A. Mullens and Lula P. Farley-Mullens.
She was a graduate of Herndon High School. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her children. She loved singing in the choir, playing her guitar and singing with her children.
She was a homemaker, and lived most of her life in Wyoming County. One of her greatest joys in life was her relationship with the Lord; now she has entered into the joy of her heavenly home (John 14:1-6).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John H. Rollins Sr., a daughter, Betty Rollins-Blankenship, a grandson Steven Rollins, a granddaughter, Catherine Bowers, three sisters Pauline York, Zola Church, Lila Wade and a brother Milton Mullens Jr.
Survivors include a sister, Garnett Workman of Princeton, five sons Tom (Becky) of Altus, OK, Bill (Fannie) of Cyclone WV, John Jr. (Kris) of Scott Depot, WV, Gerald of Beckley, WV, and Gregory of Oak Hill, WV, one daughter Fannie Edwards of the residence, son-in-law Lonnie Blankenship of Cyclone, WV, eighteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 10th at the Evans-Calfee Memorial Chapel, 1081 Cook Parkway, Oceana, with the Rev. John H. Rollins Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. She will be laid to rest beside her husband of 62 years. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
