Scenia's Story

Scenia Faye Carpenter of Coal City, WV, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018.
She was born October 4, 1927 in Battleship, WV, to the late Lonnie and Tressie Foley Basham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband; Mac, brothers; John and Harold Basham, sister; Nancy Powers, and daughter-in-law; Elaine Carpenter.
She is survived by her daughter; Margaret (Ernie) Spencer, sons; Steve (Phyllis) Carpenter and Kevin Carpenter, sister; Earlene Lilly, nephew; Jerry Basham, sister-in-law; Frances Carpenter, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and friends; Brenda Main, Marie Fraher and Dixie.
Faye was a homemaker and was a member of Coal City Community Church. In her younger days she was active in the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund, PTA and was past worthy matron of Eastern Star # 136. She was more recently a member of Bethlehem Chapter # 71. She loved to feed birds, cook, work crossword puzzles, crypto quotes and read.
Service will be Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor David Rumberg officiating.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens - Mausoleum.
