Stephen Ray Golden


Stephen Ray Golden, Sr., 67, of Rainelle, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness.
Born January 16, 1951, at Hines, he was the son of the late Victor and Barbara McClung Golden.
Stephen was retired from UTC as an aviation etching technician. He was an exceptional musician who could play any instrument with strings; a master craftsman; and a professional tinker. He was known by two nicknames, "Cheaty" to his family and "Goldie" to his wife. Stephen was an avid Beatles fan. Stephen was a "leader of the band" and his legacy will live on through his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Stephen Ray Golden, Sr.; his sister Cheryl Goff; and his in-laws Curtis and Madaline Tincher.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Debra Tincher Golden; his son Jason Golden (Bernadette) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 4 siblings Vicki Blue (Terry) of Wisconsin, Stanley Golder (Patti) of Parkersburg, Mike Golden of Charmco, and Nila Lytle (Steve) of Charmco; 2 grandsons Christian and Austin Golden; 4 great-grandchildren Kayleigh Ray, Olivia, Grayson, and Mason; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., with a time of sharing at 2:30 p.m.
