Thelma Faye Pyatt Thelma Faye Pyatt, age 98, of Beckley, WV, passed away at her home on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Born on August 5, 1920, at Pear, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Plumley and Lena Bell Tootheman Plumley.
Mrs. Pyatt was a former employee of Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in the Dietary Department. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church at Abraham.
Mrs. Pyatt enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing the piano.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Earl Bennett, and second husband, Silas Pyatt; by children, Ronald Dale Bennett, Kathy Ann Plumley and Donna Ward; two grandsons, John Cobb and Byron Cobb; siblings, Amos Plumley, Arbutus Bennett, Lester Plumley, Rheo Plumley and Ethelene Adkins.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Willard Ray Bennett and wife June, of Geneva, Ohio, Gary Bennett and wife Myrtle, of Elyria, Ohio, Alice Bennett Halbert of Marion, Illinois, and Nora Bell McMillion of Beckley; brothers; Garland Plumley of Beckley, and Lloyd Plumley and wife Ruth, of Shady Spring; sisters, Rosemary Plumley of (Oak Grove) Beckley, and Madeline Redden and husband Junior, of Shady Spring; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren also survive.
The family extends thanks to special friends, Gene and Kenny Mae Warner, and also to Hospice of Southern WV for their care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at New Salem Baptist Church at Abraham, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2 PM, with Rev. Delmas Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley and also at the church one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Daniel and Steve Mooney, Gary Cobb, Ronnie Bennett, Paul Daniels and David Shrewsberry. Honorary pallbearer will be Denny Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
