Thomas Fred "Tommy" Hampton, 84, of Richwood, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 02, 2018.
He was born on September 03, 1933, in Odd, WV, to the late Joseph and Loreane Hampton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine "Nutt" Hampton.
Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He retired after 35 years as a coal miner at Sewell Coal Company. He was an avid hunter and made many wonderful memories while camping with family and friends at Sutton Lake. He was a long-standing member of the Summersville Masonic Lodge #76.
Those left to cherish his memory include a brother, Charles "Bud" of Louisville, KY; sisters, Dallace Dean and Dreama Pointier of Richwood, WV, Leona McCutcheon, Betty Jo Dotson, of Brownsburg, IN; son, Fred (Gina) Hampton of Durango, CO; two daughters, Susie (James) Jarvis of Waynesville, MO, Trexie (Delbert) of Glen Daniels, WV; six grandchildren, Candy Jarvis, JT (Rebecca) Jarvis, Fred (Sharon) Hampton III, Angie (Bill) Brown, Delbert Bailey, Jr., Daniel (Caitlin) Bailey, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff and Harper Mills in Beckley, WV, for their loving care.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, WV, with the Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment will be in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the funeral home.
