Tony Zeboskey

Events

On September 3, 2019, Tony Zeboskey turned 96 years old. On this day God decided to give him the best birthday present anyone could ask for.....a mansion in Heaven.
Born September 3, 1923, in Pigshin, West Virginia. He was the son of Polish immigrants, Stanley and Mary Zeboskey (Babcia & Dziadek). He was last surviving sibling of 7 children. Frank Zeboskey, Joe Zeboskey, Steve Zeboskey, John Zeboskey, Mary Bower, and Stella Bryant.
After growing up and surviving the Great Depression, he joined the Marine Corps. He was a World War II Marine, and a member of the 6th Marine Division that fought the final great battle of the Pacific War on Okinawa. Shortly after returning home he met the woman that would be his wife of almost 70 years, Alma Delores Gillispie. They were married on Christmas Eve 1949, in Mullens, WV. They had two daughters, by which he is survived, Cathy Lester along with her husband Ballard and Teresa Cox along with her husband Robert.
Tony and Alma raised their daughters in Midway, WV where he worked as an underground coalminer for 34 years. After retiring from Amigo Smokeless, he worked as a carpenter for close to 20 years. In 1987, they moved to River Rest to live on the Greenbrier River in a house that he built. There he truly got to enjoy some of the things he loved the most in life, fishing, gardening and carpentry.
Among the things he truly loved and enjoyed were his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, by which he is also survived, Brian and Stephanie Lester along with their children Nickolas and Andrew, Emily and Aaron Bowles along with their children Lainey, Reece, and Natalie, and Christopher and Jennifer Cox along with their daughter Camryn.
Tony lived a full life in his 96 years and has left a legacy that any man could be proud of.
Those who wish to join his family in celebrating his life may do so on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12pm -2pm at Sophia Freewill Baptist Church with services by Pastor Jeff Perdue beginning at 2pm. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

Sorry to hear of Tony passing, but praise for his home in heaven. He always made us feel welcome any time we would visit. Rest in peace my fellow Marine.
