Virginia Grace "Susie" Murphy, age 66, from Fayetteville, WV passed away suddenly on July 15, 2017 in Forest City, NC.
Susie was born June 6, 1951 in Oak Hill, WV to parents Otie and Kathleen Treadway. She grew up in Oak Hill and was a life-long resident of Fayette County. A high school graduate, she married Michael Murphy in 1972. Susie was a homemaker, an excellent cook, and a member of Cotton Hill Baptist Church. She supported Terri's Tribute, a scholarship fund for children who have lost a parent to breast cancer and volunteered at the Fayette County food pantry. An avid quilter, Susie donated countless quilts to under-privileged children and the elderly.
She is survived by husband Michael Murphy of Fayetteville, WV, daughter Kim Murphy and her partner Mike Beresford of Asheville, NC, and son John Murphy and his partner Cindy Baker of Jodie, WV. She is also survived by her greatest joy, her grandson John Carter Murphy of Richwood, WV. Surviving siblings are Harry Treadway of Lansing, WV, James Treadway of Rand, WV, Clyde Treadway of Fayetteville, WV, Martha Laux of Colonial Heights, VA, Otie Treadway of Oak Hill, WV, Elizabeth Stoner of Forest City, NC, Charles Treadway of Oak Hill, WV, and Beverly Carver of New Market, AL.
She is predeceased by her parents Otie and Kathleen Treadway, sister Shirley Treadway, and brother Russell Treadway.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
