Walter 'Buddy' Smith

Walter "Buddy" Smith of Masseyville, WV, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019 after a long illness.
Born on October 9, 1941 in Raleigh, WV, he was the son of the late Willie W. and Lucille Martin Smith.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Willie Smith, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Virginia Strauser Doss and a brother-in law, John M. Doss.
Mr. Smith had owned his own business in Chicago, IL, and was an inactive member of the Blue Lodge Scottish Rite and Shriners.
After he moved back to WV in 1975, he owned and operated a market and worked for Armco and Peabody Coal as a motorman and shear operator. He was a member of Bolt Church of God and worked in the food bank alongside of his best friend, the late Glenn Stevens.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Virginia "Jenny" Doss Smith; a daughter Theresa Milam and husband Wyndel of Glen Daniel; a son, Walter Smith Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; three randchildren, Jennifer and husband Michael Hendricks, Wyndel Ray and wife Tiffany Milam, and Katie Lynn Milam; six great grandchildren, Emma, Easton, Ember, Hunter, Mckenzie and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, David Doss and wife Missy of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. E.J. Salon, Dr. Haddadin and assistant Marsha, along with the staff at Raleigh General Hospital and Harper Mills for their kindness and care.
A funeral service will be held at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 6 PM with Pastors Rick Peters and Jerry Cantley, Rev. Earl Cooper, and Rev. Tommy Craft officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A visitation for family members will be from 3 PM until 4 PM on Tuesday, and friends may visit from 4 PM until 6 PM on Tuesday also. A private graveside rite will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Wednesday.

You all have my deepest sympathy.
Buddy was a kind, caring man always with a smile.
The last time I saw Buddy was in Dr Haddadins office, he had other patients laughing in the waiting room....he will be missed by all.
