Weldon Arloe Walker, age 71, of Egeria, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born on October 8, 1947 at Egeria, he was the son of the late Fred Arlet Walker and Verlie Mae Wood Walker.
Mr. Walker was a disabled US Army Veteran and was a member of Egeria Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Walker was a graduate of Stoco High School Class of 1965, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was drafted into the Army in 1965, and was in the infantry on the DMZ in Souel, Korea. Weldon was a hero to many, especially his children. He was a soldier during the Korean War. On December 31, 1967, he was in an explosion that left him permanently disabled.
He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Brenda, and a loving father to his four children: Leon Walker, Keith Walker and wife Billie, Leona Hagerman and husband Clayton, and Tabitha Bell.
Weldon had 14 grandchildren: Dustin Curtis, Whitney Walker, Ashley Tolliver, Madison Walker, Tony Walker and wife Savannah, Megan Walker and fiance, Eric Meadows, Keith Walker, Emily Walker, Austin Hagerman, Alissa Hagerman, Amber Hagerman, Autumn Hagerman, Aiden Hagerman, and Ashlynn Hagerman; five great grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Zayne Walker, Tyler Walker, Bayleigh Walker, and Abel Curtis.
Weldon is also survived by six living brothers and sisters: Freddy Walker, Phyllis Thompson and husband Jack, Connie Walker and wife Joyce, Eddie Walker and wife Vera, Leroy Walker and wife Phyllis, Lorraine Fletcher and husband Victor; and Lucy Frazier, the mother of his three children.
In addition to his parents, Fred and Verlie Walker, he was preceded in death by brother, Leon Marshall Walker, granddaughter, Ashley Tolliver and nephew, Marshall Fletcher.
A service and visitation will be held at the home of Weldon Walker on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 1 PM with Elder Keith Mills and Elder Sam Walker officiating. A visitation will be held at the home after 10 AM on Sunday. Burial will follow at Agee Cemetery at Egeria with military honors.
