William Spence Michael Spangler

May 25, 1986 - December 22, 2018

William Spence Michael Spangler William Spence Michael Spangler, 32, of Bridgeport & Fayetteville, WV, died December 22, 2018 in Watertown, MA. His grieving parents include Whitney Spangler Finch and Peter Ross, of Arlington, VA, David Finch of Bridgeport WV, and Bill Smith of Oak Hill, WV. Will leaves behind his 10-year old son, Dylan and his mother Megan Henderson of Bridgeport WV, as well as his biological son Grayson and his parents, Tammi and Jackie Pittman of Fayetteville WV. Will has four sisters who are mourning his loss: Cassie Spangler of Bridgeport WV, Beth Martin of Port Charlotte FL, Nikki Finch of Dallas TX, and Shawna Finch of Sarasota FL. His beautiful niece, Emsley Willis, and her unborn sister Vivvi, will grow up knowing how much their Uncle Will wouldve adored them. Wills PawPaw Punk (Frank Spangler) of Fayetteville WV was always there for him and will undoubtedly be lost without him, and his MawMaw Sandra and PawPaw Bragg of Oak Hill WV loved him without hesitation.
Our family has experienced far too many losses but the one who left a remarkable void in his life was the death of his grandmother Betty Grace Spangler of Fayetteville. Will loved being part of such a large, close-knit bunch, of which he also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Spangler, Elmore, Parsons, Smith, and Bragg families. We know there are many people who are deeply saddened by his sudden passing.
Will struggled with addiction for many years. He had many ups and downs in his life but the one thing that remained constant was the love he had for his family. Throughout everything, none of us ever doubted how much he loved us and we are at peace knowing he felt our love just as strongly. We are heartbroken that he is gone and we mourn the loss of hope we held that he would someday live a happy and healthy life. He had recently gotten clean and was on a path to recovery, which makes this all so much harder to swallow.
His mother asks that you remember her son with compassion and kindness. That you do not harshly judge those suffering from addictions or make assumptions about what type of person you think they are or what kind of family they must come from. She asks that you remember her son as the loving, quick-witted kid he once was. The boy with the huge brown eyes and the blond bowl cut whose pants were always hanging too low from the waist and dragging the ground. The guy with the weird quirks that once irritated us all but we would give anything to be subjected to them now. He was ALWAYS about ready to hop in the shower which lasted no less than an hour. He could go through an entire bottle of shampoo and use 5 towels; it was always a mystery what went on in there. Will had a soft spot for old people and animals and even in the darkest days of his active addiction, he never lost sight of that. Every time he talked to his mother he asked about his cat and said, Tell Simba I love him.
There will be no service but if you would like to do something to honor Wills memory, his mom suggests making a donation to either https://www.warmhandswarmheartswv.org/ which is a wonderful organization in Oak Hill WV striving to help recovering addicts. You might also consider making a donation to the sober living home where Will was residing. It is located at 171 Cambridge Rd, Woburn MA 01801 and their phone number is 781-932-8711.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your loved one, Will. It sounds as if he had a big love for his family and that they loved him very much, too. The Bible has a wonderful promise of a resurrection at Acts 24:15. And God is close to the brokenhearted Ps 34:18.

I have so many wonderful memories of Will. He and Jamie always had a great time playing together when Tammi would bring him along on one of her many visits. I remember his vast knowledge of, and infatuation with, cars. I was always amazed by how much he knew. I will never forget those beautiful, brown eyes and his handsome face. I know he adored and loved his family very much and I know he will be missed by many. Love and prayers for you all.
