William's Story

William Edward Thompson, 89 of Stanaford, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

Bill was born at Clintonville, WV on February 3, 1928 and was a son of the late Charles Thompson and Mattie Bell McClung Thompson. He graduated from Lewisburg High School.

Bill was retired from The West Virginia Division of Highways where he worked as an engineer and surveyor for District 9. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He attended The Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church. Bill was also an NRA member.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shirley Harrah Thompson; one son, Scott E. Thompson of Princeton, WV; a grandson, Matthew Thompson of Princeton, WV; and one sister, Ruth Allen of Fairlea, WV.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum at Clintonville, WV with Pastors George Wood and John McGee officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at the mausoleum.
