Billie Louise Coen Smith, 94, of Beckley, formerly of Pineville, went home to the be with the Lord, Friday, September 8, 2017.
Born May 23, 1923, in Johnson City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Katherine Farer Coen.
Billie was a long-time member of the Pineville Church of the Nazarene. She loved singing in the church choir, reading and writing poetry. She loved canning and making Blackberry Jelly. Billie loved her family dearly and was very proud of each one of them.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Andrew J. "Buster" Smith, her sons James L. "Jimmy" Smith, Robert "Bobby" Smith, and her brother Jim Coen.
She is survived by her son William T. Smith and wife Dina Smith of Princeton, son John L. Smith and wife Susan Smith of Clear Fork, and Daughter-in-law Tammy Rose Smith of Indian Creek; grandchildren: Mary Lee Kelmar, Tad Smith, Mary Laster, Jamie Smith, Darrell Smith, Justin Smith, Andrea Smith, Cody Smith, Bobby Smith, Jr., Elijah Smith, and 9 great grandchildren. Sisters Patsy Light of VA and Catherine Turley of TN.
Services celebrating the life of Billie Smith will be held at Noon Monday, September 11, 2017, in the chapel of Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville. Following the service, Billie will be laid to rest beside her husband and her son in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:00am until service time Monday at the funeral home.
