Mrs. Ernice McLaughlin Carter, 85, of Beckley died Monday, September 4, 2017.
Born March 12, 1932 in Fairfield, FL, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Josephine McBeth McLaughlin.
Ernice worked for Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff's Department, was a 64year member of Central Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Carter; sisters, Minnie Green, Annie Williams, Julia McMahon, Eulela Pierson, Vera Alexander and Josephine Alexander; brothers, John, Samuel, Monroe McLaughlin and Robert Clark
Those left to cherish precious memories are her son, Darrell D. Carter of Bradford, PA; daughters, Denita D. (Jerry) Hansbury of Spring Lake, NC and Debbra D. Carter of Beckley, WV; grandchildren Ilaisaane (Christopher) Tyree of Cleveland, OH, whom she raised, Denicia Hansbury of Tampa FL, Jamarr Hansbury of Spring Lake, NC and Dawan Carter of Stockton, CA; great-granddaughter, Daielani Collier of Tampa, FL; sister, Alice (John) Boatwright of Fairfield, FL; sisters-in-law, Essie Clark of Blitchton, FL, Shirly "Jean" Green of Beckley and Clara Corbett of Portsmouth, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Monday, September 11, 2017 at Central Baptist Church, Brooks and "G" Street, Beckley, with Pastor Franklin Hairston officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
