Eustace "Bubby" Clay Jr., 73, of Mount Hope, WV, went to be with the Lord on August, 14, 2017. Bubby was born and raised on Coal River. He was a wonderful Christian man; a good provider, loving husband, cherished father, grandfather, son and friend to many.
He was a graduate of Marsh Fork High School. He was a retired coal miner, an Army soldier and Vietnam veteran, an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the son of Eustace H. Clay and Oda Canterbury. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Elizabeth in 1977 and a sister, Linda Blair, in 2016.
Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanne Morris Clay; one daughter, April Jeannette Dietrich (Shane) of San Antonio, TX; a son, Christopher Samuel of Beckley, WV; four grandchildren: Lindsey, Caitlin, Ryan and Zachary; two sisters, Janet Massey (Eugene) of Eunice, WV and Geri Pownell (Randy) of Augusta; one brother, Paul (Barbara) of Naoma; several nieces and nephews.
His favorite verses of the Bible were 11 Tim. 4:7,8 "I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing."
Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017, in the Miller Cemetery at Rock Creek, WV, with service conducted by Lewis Earl Clay. Interment in the Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek.
