Goldia C. Brown, 92, of Simpsonville, SC, formerly of Prosperity, WV, passed away Friday, August 4th, 2017 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC.
Born August 31, 1924 in Riley, WV. She was the daughter of the late James P. and Roxie Grear. After the death of her husband, Wanie Eugene Brown, in 1976 she moved from Beckley, WV to Winter Haven, FL to be near her daughter. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
She was an Army Veteran of WWII where she served as a medical technician in the WAC at The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV and Pratt General Hospital, Coral Gables, FL. After her service she worked at the VA Hospital, factories and stores in the Beckley, WV area.
She loved to write poems, songs, and stories about her life and paint.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by Brothers: Walter, George, and Jimmy Grear. Sisters: Alice Bragg, Claribel Sampson, Daphane Grear, and Arlene Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Karen Meadows (Howard), grandchildren: Brian Meadows (Valerie), Melanie Nichols, great grandchildren: Kayla Kostelich (Paul), Zachary Nichols (Jessica), Andrew Meadows, Austin Meadows, great great grandchildren: Alexandria Aviles, Azra Kostelich, Castiel Nichols, Melric Nichols all of Simpsonville, SC.
Friends may gather with family Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 11am to 12pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Service will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Rev. Robert Meadows will be officiating.
