Jimmie "Chuck" Hornsby, age 68, of Shady Spring, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division following injuries sustained from an ATV accident close to his home on Pluto Road.
Chuck was born in Stanaford, on September 17, 1949, to the late Charlie and Freda Carr Hornsby of Shady Spring.
Chuck attended Shady Spring High School and was drafted into the US Marine Corp and toured in Vietnam. He was the owner and operator of Jim's Construction and was a mason by trade. Chuck was Pastor of Abraham Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to talk about Jesus and His saving grace power and helped many through difficult life situations.
He was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, uncle, teacher, leader and friend. Chuck will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and his Church Family.
His life and legacy will forever be treasured by his wife of 46 years, Joyce O'Neal Hornsby, his son, Chuck and his companion, Katie, and a grandson, Thomas, of Fayetteville, Tennessee; six brothers, Kenny and his wife, Bonnie, of Shacklesford, Virginia, Tommy and his wife, Sheila, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Tex and his wife, Coco, of Shady Spring, Dean and his wife, Karen, of Shady Spring, Teddy of Beaver, and Gary of Beckley; two sisters, Barbara Rose and husband, Ronnie, of Beckley, and Betty McGraw and husband, Barry of Grandview.
Chuck was preceded in death by siblings Anna Lee Tolliver, Doug Hornsby, and Joe Hornsby.
Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate the Life of Rev. Jimmie "Chuck" Hornsby on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 2 PM at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Rev. Jerry Tyree and Rev. Floyd Bolen officiating. Friends may visit the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Friday at the funeral home, and also one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
