Roger W. Lamstus 70, of Pineville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Charleston Area Medical Center, following a long illness.
Born April 20, 1947 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Oral and Margie Bailey Lamastus.
Roger worked as a coal miner for 20 years, then worked for many years in construction. He was a longtime member of the Pineville Church of the Nazarene. Roger never met a stranger, and enjoyed talking and sharing stories with anyone who would listen.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved in-laws Burbridge and Violet Lusk.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years Loretta Lamastus, his two daughters Theresa Matics and husband Jay of Lester, and Holly Harmon of Pineville, two granddaughters Nyah Matics, and Allison Harmon, three sisters Diana Bailey and her husband Curtis of Herndon VA, Karen Maybry and her husband Jack of Newport News VA, and Deborah Turk and her husband Michael of Aynor SC, one brother Russell Lamastus and his wife Brenda of Falls Mills VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless friends that loved him.
Services celebrating the life of Roger Lamastus will be held Saturday August 12, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel of Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville, with Rev. Bill Goode, and Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny.
Friends may gather with the family from 11am until service time Saturday at the funeral Home.
