Ronald James Howerton, age 77, of Fairdale, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born on April 21, 1940, in Tams, he was the son of the late James Kelly Howerton and Luevon Hamm Howerton.
Mr. Howerton was a disabled coal miner with 22 years of service. He was a member of the UMWA, and a member of Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Howerton enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on his Thunderbird.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Faye Canterbury Howerton; a sister, Oneta Bragg, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Howerton.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include sons, James Howerton and wife, Alana, of McClure, Pennsylvania, Kelly Howerton and wife, Lydia, of Fairdale, and Michael Howerton and wife, Wendy, of Fairdale; daughters, Cindy Vance and husband, Mark, of Phoenix, Arizona, Rebecca Tolliver and husband, Toby, of Mullens, Tracy Martin and husband, David, of Crab Orchard, Heather Cook and husband, James, of Sophia, and Aimee Lilly and husband, David, of Fairdale; two brothers, Gene Howerton and wife, Connie, of White Oak, and Harold Howerton of Sophia; a sister, Ruth Iskander and husband, Albert, of Crab Orchard; 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at 2 PM with Pastor Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the church. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
