Sherry Lynn Lusk Hood, 59, of Kopper City Bottom, WV, was called home by God on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at her home.
She was born on October 18, 1957 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Garnett Goodwin Lusk.
Sherry was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Kopperston. She spent a great part of her life dedicated to the care of the community's elderly and disabled. She was well known for her compassion.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Hood; a son Brian Hood; a sister Pateria Long; a brother Wandell Lusk; and two nephews.
Survivors include daughter Lenette A. (Jason) Philpot of Kopper City Bottom; a son Trenton R. Hood of Georgetown, KY; a granddaughter Don'Nasia "Asia" Hood; a brother Frank James (Barbara) Lusk of Sevierville, TN; three sisters Jo Ann (David) Sanders of Seymour, TN, Marlene (Wallace) Maynard of Fairdale and Beverly Long of Conover, NC; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, July 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11 AM until time of services on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Wallace Maynard Jr., Allen Gwinn, Josh Maynor, Drew Lusk, Donny Burgess and James Maynard.
The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
