Virginia "Catherine" Goddard Stewart, received her angel wings Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Bower's Hospice House in Beckley.
Born December 4, 1932 in Keyrock, WV she was the daughter of the late Roy Goddard and Myrtle Hill Goddard.
Catherine attended Rockcastle Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, working in her garden and visiting with her porch neighbors. She absolutely adored her pet bird, Tweetie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl M. Stewart and siblings, Louise Fisher, Lucille Cook and John Alvin Goddard.
Those left to cherish Catherine's memory are her children, William "Bill" Stewart and wife, Carolyn of Dublin, VA and Kathy Stewart and fiancé, Ed Bolen of Princewick. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Melissa Haynes and husband, Tommy of Pineville, Ashley Harper and husband, Josh of Dublin, VA, Sherri Brewster and Chris Mullens and wife, Brittany of Brenton; great-grandchildren, Tyler Haynes, Bryleigh Harper, Matthew Harper, Caleb Mullens, Brayden, Jasmin and Brooklyn Bailey and Johnta Brewster; a brother, Jim Goddard and his wife, Mary of FL; special neighbors and many loving friends.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, 614 Appalachian Hwy, Pineville, with the Rev. Silas Mullins officiating. Bob Adams will share some special words. Interment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. The family will receive friends from 11am until time of service at the funeral home.
Donnie Cook, John Goddard, George Elkins, Jeff Halsey, Lonnie Green, Bob Adams, Matthew Murry and Reggie Sizemore will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tough time; especially her earthly angels, Tammy Halsey, Bonnie Cox and her loving neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
