Wayne Lamonte Black, age 79, of Grandview, WV, passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
Born on August 19, 1937, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late David Black and Helen McNally Black.
Mr. Black was retired from the US Army, having spent twenty-one and a half years in the Army. He was a Vietnam Conflict Veteran, a member of the VFW, and the American Legion Post #32.
Mr. Black enjoyed working crossword puzzles and hunting in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Black, and by four sisters, Shirley, Carol, Sally and Pearl.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Catherine Prunesti Black; three daughters, Carol Black, Karen Kain and Shirley Bentley, all of Tennessee; a brother, David Black of Pennsylvania, a grandson, Jonathan Kain of North Carolina; step children, Patricia McCall of Tennessee, Mark Evans of Shady Spring, Troy Evans of Florida, Steve Evans of Virginia, and Michael Evans of East Bank, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 2 PM with Pastor Russ Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
