Barry Lee Klingensmith, 77 of Fayetteville, WV, died Monday March 10th, 2025. He was born in Apollo, PA. to Frank and Irene Klingensmith. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Betty, one brother Ray and his wife Gretchen, of Cameron, NC, also sister-in-law Cheryl Nichols Hensley(Vernon) of Wallback, WV, a brother-in-law Sherlie Tanner of Lorain, OH, a sister- in- law Linda Nichols of Nebo, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
He was proud to have served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968, and in the Army National Guard for 26 years. He was also a Pennsylvania state trooper, and a Fayette County deputy sheriff. He was involved in the historic Fayette Theatre for a number of years. He was baptized at Fayetteville Baptist Church on October 1975, and was a member for 30 years, and then became a member of Rock Lick Community Church for the last 20 years. He loved his church, and church family.
The family would like to offer special thanks to niece and nephew-in-law Kim and George Shuff who were always there for him, and to nephew, Steven Tanner, who came to be with him at the end. Also a niece and great niece, Annette Suarez, and Jessica Stanley who were with him, when he was in the hospital in Richmond, VA for a week.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a memorial donation in Barry's memory to a military charity of your choice such as the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation or Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing LLC.
A funeral service with military honors will take place for Barry on Friday March, 14, 2025 at 1:00pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Lay Preacher George Shuff officiating. The family will accept friends beginning at 12:00 Noon. Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center has the honor of serving the Klingensmith family.
