Daniels - Danny Ryan Wood, 46, of Daniels, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep April 30, 2026.

He was passionate about life, a man of integrity and intellectually gifted. He was a cherished son, brother, proud uncle and a loyal friend who was known for his unwavering reliability.

​Ryan was born in Beckley, West Virginia, to Danny and Karen Wood. He was the youngest of two siblings: Eric (Amy) Wood and Adam (Angie) Wood.

He was preceded in death by Paternal Grandparents, Wilson and Ursula Wood, Maternal Grandparents, Hugh and Christine Stover. Father Danny Wilson Wood. Aunt Barbara and Uncle John Davis.

​Those left to cherish his memories include his mother Karen Wood, Uncle Frank (JoAnn) Wood, Uncle Stephen (Evangeline) Stover, Brothers: Eric (Amy) Wood, Adam (Angie) Wood, Cousins: Shaun Wood, Matt Stover, Megan (Cameron) Stracenar, Zachary Stover, Nieces: Amanda (Lockwood) Wood Pollard and Lacie Wood, Nephews: Brett Wood, Breyson Wood, Austin Wood and Hunter Wood, Great Nephews: Lockwood "Woody" Wilson Pollard and Sullivan "Sully" Whitfield Pollard, Special Friends: Shane Pack, Justin Pack and Timmy Armentrout who grew up next door and were more like brothers than friends.

Ryan graduated from Shady Spring HS class of 1997. He attended Marshall RCBI Machinist Technology/ CNC Machine Tool Technology and IBEW Climbing School, 5-year apprenticeship with title of Journeyman Power Lineman. His work history was with USDA, MAS-Tec, and IBEW Journeyman Power Linesman including duty on Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy.

​He was interested in Forestry, studying and harvesting mushrooms, learning to play guitar, tree climbing, and taking his dogs running in the woods. Ryan was also a music-lover with deep knowledge of the 70's and 80's.

He found immense joy when taking a trip to the 150-year-old log camp in Glady, West Virginia and visiting with the locals and roaming the many attractions along the Allegheny Highlands region within the Monongahela National Forest.

Ryan left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His memory and kindness will be cherished by a wide range of friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral at Shady Spring, WV, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM, with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

​In lieu of flowers, donations in Ryan's name can be made to the Wilson and Ursula Wood Fund, ICO Beckley Area Foundation.
