David Shumate Obituary

Amherst, OH - David Shumate, 75, of Amherst Ohio, formally of Ravencliff WV went to be with the Lord January 25, 2026.

He was born in Ravencliff, W.V. on April 23, 1950 to the late Hurley and Delphia Shumate.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees and fought for his country in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents , he is preceded in death by his grandson Bryan Austen Sizemore and a great grandson Nollen Shumate, a brother Daniel Shumate, sisters Delores Edwards, Doris Tolliver, Dorothy Lafferty, and Evelyn Wills.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years Sandra, his daughter Misty Shumate and son Heath Shumate, his grandchildren David Sizemore, Micah Shumate, Jacob Shumate, Jasmine Shumate, Elijah Shumate and Logan Shumate, a sister Daisy Mae Nolley. And a host of loving family and friends.

He was a devout Christian and he talked to everyone he met about the Lord.

Per his request, David will have a military funeral and be put to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville Ohio, February 4, 2026 at 1:15 p.m.
