Della Mae Hayworth, 80, of Rhodell, passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late William Sargent and Viola Niece Sargent. Born March 22, 1936 in Bud, West Virginia.
She was a member of Rhodell Church of God. Della played a huge role with the UMWA; standing in picket lines, fighting for rights of disabled miners and widows.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and most importantly, spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband's Jack Smith and Willie Hayworth; son, Jack Dewayne Smith; daughter, Carmella Farruggia; son-in-law, Bob Austin; brothers, Clifford Sargent, Sammy Sargent and Martin Sargent.
Those left to cherish her memory includes her daughters, Donna Chatfield and husband Allen of Sophia, Vicki Austin of Rhodell and Debra Hogan and husband Doug of Rhodell; brothers, James Sargent of Beckley and Jackie Sargent of Rhodell; grandchildren, Amanda, and Brittany Hogan, Dewayne, Chris, Michael and Josh Austin, Jack Smith, Douglas Shrewsbury and Nikki Garretson; 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 11 am to 12 noon at Rhodell Church of God. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 12 noon at the church with Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow at Bud Cemetery in Bud, WV, with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
