NDASH - Dora Elizabeth Johnson Stanley, age 80, of Rupert, West Virginia passed away on February 28, 2023, at Peyton Hospice House, Fairlea, WV.
She was born on January 2, 1943, at Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Robert Isadore Johnson Sr. and Lizzie Godwin Johnson of Wedgefield, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Isadore Johnson, Jr. of Elgin, South Carolina and John Michael Johnson of Wedgefield, South Carolina.
Dora was a Furman High School graduate with the class of 1961. She also attended Clevenger College in Sumter, South Carolina. She was an office employee of Korn Industries of Sumter, First Baptist Church, Columbia, South Carolina, and First Baptist Church of West Columbia, South Carolina. She also did other secretarial work and home care.
She was a member of Grace Landmark Baptist Church, Rupert, West Virginia.
Surviving are husband of 55 years, Charles Stanley, Jr. of Rupert, son Mark Timothy Stanley of Shady Spring, WV, grandson Isaiah Timothy Stanley, of Huntington, WV, Step-grandson James Palmer of Grundy, VA. Also one brother, Jason Johnson (Donna) of Camden, SC, three sisters, Lila Jones (Jerry) of Sumter, Ava Ellis (Jerry) of Columbia and Valerie Johnson of Sumter, sister-in-law, Pamela Johnson of Elgin, SC, plus many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., Rainelle, WV, Saturday March 4, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Services conducted by Pastor Matthew Stepp of Big Creek Baptist Church, Wayne, WV. Burial to follow at Wallace and Wallace Cemetery, Clintonville, WV.
