Douglas Church, 80, of Meadow Bridge, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the home of his son in Grassy Meadows surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Born June 11, 1943, he was the son of the late Clarence and Gracie Church.
Also, preceding him in death are his wife Pat; brothers Norman, Clyde, and William; and sisters Mildred, Myrlie, and Doris.
Survivors include three sons; Mike and wife Tammy of Grassy Meadows, Jason of Meadow Bridge, and Leslie of Sam Black; one stepson, Wade Word of Morristown, Tennessee; two brothers, Stanley of Jacksonville, Florida, and Larry of Meadow Bridge; two sisters, Patty of Danese, and Marion of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Douglas was a retired construction worker and union representative for the Teamsters Local 175 based in Charleston, West Virginia. Following retirement, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and taking care of his garden.
Per his wishes he will be cremated.
A celebration of Doug's life will be scheduled at a later date.
