Elese Delores Holley Harris Obituary

West Virginia - Elese Delores Holley Harris was born on January 30, 1930 to Elbert and Edna Clark Holley in Hiawatha, West Virginia.

While growing up in Mercer County, Elese was adored by her parents, friends, and neighbors. She graduated from Bluestone High School in 1948.

Elese was called home to her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2020. Her love for God and church was always important to her. She was raised in church and was a member of the Giatto Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years where she was the church clerk, devoted member of the senior choir, and youth advisor.

After moving to Beckley, she joined the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Skelton. She always felt blessed to be part of the Morning Star family. Elese was an active member and corresponding secretary of the West Virginia Baptist State Chorus until her death.

Elese was known as a fabulous cook. She specialized in baking delicious cakes and making homemade rolls and biscuits that would melt in your mouth. She was a great conversationalist and could talk for hours about her life experiences. Elese enjoyed traveling and was proud to have visited many places across the United States.

Her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother was her main focus in life and she was always so happy when family visited her.

Elese was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 41 years, Berkley A. Harris and her "big" brother, Harry Pryor.

She is survived by her daughters, Berkley Hopkins of Princeton, Margaret Fields (Stan) of Maineville, Ohio, Kathy Sue Heartwell (George) of Princeton, and Anita Foxx of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her son, Carl Harris (Terri) of Gainesville, Florida. She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Shawn Harris, Laura (Annie) Hopkins, Leslie Hopkins, Kenny Foxx, Jr. and Carl Harris, Jr.; her great grandchildren Jade, Ezekiel, Kenneth III, Alaina, Robert (R.J.) and Christian; a nephew Robert Harris and a host of special friends.

A Celebration of Elese's Life will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2020 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Charles Gore officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Littlesburg, WV.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00PM until the service hour on Friday.
