Cool Ridge, WV - Ernest "Ernie" Wayne Epling of Cool Ridge, WV, joined his wife and heavenly Father on Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026.

Ernie was born July 10th, 1951, in Cool Ridge, WV; he was the son of the late Carl Lafayette Epling and the late Bernice Ella Lilly Epling Maynard. Ernie was of the Baptist faith and a hard worker—a welder, fabricator, and true 'Jack of All Trades' he retired from the Raleigh Co. School Board after 31 years working in maintenance. In his free time he loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He did not know a stranger and would talk to anyone that would listen, especially to his "fractured fairytales".

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 53 years, Martha Lee O'Brien Epling, whom he loved to the end; as well as several siblings, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his only son Brandon Elliot Epling of Cool Ridge, WV; two sisters; extended family and loved ones.
