Eugene "Firebug" Franklin Tignor Obituary

Roanoke, VA - Eugene "Firebug" Franklin Tignor, 85, of Rainelle, West Virginia passed away at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday. August 14, 2025, after a long illness. He was born August 28, 1939, in Rainelle, West Virginia to the late Luchon and Lottie (Lockhart) Tignor.

He was a mechanic for Westvaco where he retired after thirty-one years. Euguene loved working on cars, fishing, and could fix anything. If you had a problem, you went to papaw. He thoroughly enjoyed attending family reunions and spending time with his family. Eugene loved to laugh and joke and was a loving dad and papaw.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Janice Marie (Fleshman) Tignor; daughter Coronda Gaye Tignor; and his sister Frances Shawver.

Those left to cherish his life, and memories are his son Rocky Tignor of Rainelle; daughter Tebbi (Emmett) Kirby of Rupert; grandson Brandon (Autumn) Kirby of White Sulphur Springs; granddaughter Tanna (Charles) Kirby of Woodbridge, Virginia; step-grandchildren Daniel (Pam) Kirby and Robin (Thomas) Sheets.

Services will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:00pm at Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle with Pastor Bennie Kenney officiating. The family will receive friends and neighbors from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Interment will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
