Eulalia Lucille "Lalia" Ross, 74, of Princeton, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Princeton Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 26, 1949, in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Matthew "Shorty" Footo and Louise "Tiny" Dodson McKinney.
Lalia was a graduate of Herndon High School in Wyoming County. She attended Concord College in Athens and was a graduate of the Bluefield State College of Nursing.
She had a long and fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals and agencies. She retired from Princeton Community Hospital.
She was a faithful and active member of Silver Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends and traveling. Her faith never wavered during her illness, and she continued to share her faith and witness and minister to others even as her journey here ended.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry Lee Ross; and her sister and brother-in-law, Donna Sue and Mike Copley.
She is survived by three sons, Harry Lee Ross, II, and his wife Dr. Sherri Ross of Princeton, Brian Steven Ross and his wife Christine of Princeton, and Jason Scott Ross and his wife Danei of Sheffield Lake, OH; ten grandchildren, Olivia Ross, Jake Ross, Ashliegh Mann and her husband Jacob, Briana Farley and her husband Dr. Tyler Farley, Chantz Ross, Harvey Ross, Gus Ross, Odessa Ross, Murray Ross, and Junie Ross; six great-grandchildren, Kaige Buzzo, Everly Mann, Mavrik Mann, Milo Farley, Indy Farley, and Isla Farley; two sisters, Linda Runion and her husband Mike of Cumming, Georgia, and Melissa Quizenbeury and her husband Daniel of Maybeury, WV; brother, Johnny Ray McKinney and his wife Laura of Milton, FL; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Lalia was blessed to have a group of childhood friends that she enjoyed weekly lunches and fun excursions with; Susan Folden, Nancy Adams and Patty Ball. Over the last 2 years she became part of an amazing friend group that we affectionately called "The Quail Valley Pond Ladies". They had so many wonderful times together and stood by her faithfully through her illness; Myra Cockrell, Debbie Toler, and Janice Hicks. We also very much appreciate her in- home caregivers Glenna Day and Sandy Mills White and the folks at Ridge Care that made her feel at home the last month of her life. Her family is so grateful and appreciative of the excellent and compassionate care she received from CCU nursing staff and doctors at Princeton Community Hospital.
A celebration of Lalia's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Justin White and Pastor Gerald McKinney officiating.
