Harold "Gene" Chapman, 86, of Mt. Hope formerly of Nimitz went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Tennova Healthcare Hospital in Cleveland, TN following a long illness.

Born November 26, 1936 at Smithers, he was a son of the late Earl Lester and Dorothy Armind Haning Chapman.

Gene was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a coal miner and a supervisor for the Ford Motor Company. Gene enjoyed hunting, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Chapman and one brother, Bob Chapman.

Those left to cherish his memory include one nephew, Julius Dale Lilly of Cleveland, OH; special friend and caregiver, Sarah Fredriksson and husband Jim and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Thursday, August 24, 2023 with Pastors Tom and Dalene Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral parlor. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
