Imogene Wickline Obituary

Meadow Bridge - Imogene McDaniels Wickline of Meadow Bridge, age 90, passed away on January 31, 2023 at the Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg. She had suffered a two-year battle with dementia and a recent hip injury.

Born on February 20, 1932, on her grandfather Lilly's farm in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Otie Lilly McDaniels and Raymond G. McDaniels.

She attended Sandstone High School and later received her diploma from Meadow Bridge High School. In addition to raising five children, she worked at many things outside of the home. Jobs included voter registration, working the polls, Joe Holiday's store and restaurant, Alex Forren's grocery store, G.C. Murphy Co, Heilig-Myers Furniture, and Shaffer's Supply.

She was a talented lady who enjoyed music, homemaking, cooking, flower arranging, crocheting, sewing, quilting, driving, CEO activities, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years Charles Q. Wickline, brothers Woodrow Lilly (Betty) and (Mary), Rev. Basil McDaniels (Dorothy Eileen), Raymond G. McDaniels, Jr., Gerald McDaniels, and her close friend Winnie Vandall.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Linda (Bobby) Lively of Prince George VA, Loretta (Herbert) Shuck of Meadow Bridge, Terry Wickline (Janie) of North Dinwiddie VA, Jerry Wickline (Becky) of Meadow Bridge and Donnie Wickline (Elizabeth) of North Prince George VA; seven grandchildren Chrystal Lively, Shannon (Mark) Ellis, Brian Wickline, Aaron Wickline, Lauren Wickline, Hannah Wickline, Brandon Wickline (Andrea); four great grandchildren Tiffany Taylor, Brayden Ellis, Case Wickline, Carson Wickline; and many nieces and nephews.

We extend our thanks to the Walkup family for caring and reaching out, to Roger, Becky and the staff of the Senior lunch program for the bright spot in her day, the Murphy girls Ruth, Mary, Ruby and Sandy, and the caring staff at the Peyton Hospice House.

Services will be held at the Smathers Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 9. Brother G.G. Crist will be officiating. Friends may visit one hour before the service.

Pallbearers are Jerry Wickline, Brian Wickline, Aaron Wickline, Brandon Wickline, Mark Ellis, and Ronnie Patterson.

Interment will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
