Jack Herman Pack

Jack Herman Pack, 81, of Princeton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on August 15, 1936 in Beckley he was the son of the late Hancel Herman Pack and Mable May Lovell Pack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Billy Pack. Jack graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in 1954 where he was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball and track. He attended Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) on a football scholarship. In 1956 he joined the U.S. Marines and played on the Camp Pendleton football team. Jack met his wife Sue in 1958 and they were married on May 30, 1959. He obtained his bachelor's degree from RPI a division of William and Mary and his Master's degree from WVU in 1962. He started his teaching and coaching career at Stafford High School in Fredericksburg, VA, he moved to Mt. Hope where he was the head basketball coach and an assistant on the football team, he then taught and coached at Buchanan Upshur High School where his team played for the state football championship. Jack and Sue moved to Moundsville and continued to coach and teach at John Marshall High School. In 1973 they moved to Princeton and Jack had a successful coaching career from 1973 to 1982 as the head football coach at Princeton High School. Jack also helped the athletic programs at Bluefield and Pikeview and set several state records at Pikeview in powerlifting. Jack took great pride in being able to coach his wife in powerlifting at the age of 55 and helped her achieve seven world records until her retirement at age 72.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sue Ann Todd Pack, two sons, Joseph Todd Pack and his wife Kim Lambert Pack and John Billy Pack and Renee Short. Grandchildren, Luke Trace Thomas Pack, Kaiden Marcus Pack and Ashley Tilley. Great Grandson, Braylon Tilley. Two sisters, Jean Pack and Joann Davis and husband Charles and one brother, Harry Pack and wife Kathy. Several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Coach Pack will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Mike Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pack Family Cemetery at Willowton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family Friday(today) from 5 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
