Jack Edward Shrewsbury, 79, of Herndon died peacefully Sunday evening, June 4, 2017, at his home with his loving family at his side.

Born May 4, 1938, at Basin, he was the son of the late Austin & Effie Mills Shrewsbury.

Mr. Shrewsbury had worked in the coal mines for better than 30 years, having retired from Eastern Gas & Fuel at Herndon. He was a member of UMWA.

While his health permitted, he loved coon hunting and horses.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Goldie Abner.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Joetta Ruth Mills Shrewsbury, four children: Tina Diane Lambert, Sharon Lynn Adkins & husband Randall, Debra Ruth Gills & husband Grady, Wayne Edward Shrewsbury & wife Bonnie, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Six siblings: James, Cebert & Russell Shrewsbury, Gracie Foley, Caroline Johnson, Ethel Gibson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton.

Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
