Rainelle, WV - John Lester Cox, 77, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home following a very long illness.
Born May 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Loren Hubert Cox and Martha "Veva" Shaffer Cox of Meadow Bridge. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Rosa Simms Cox and Edgar E. and Emma Hicks Shaffer; his sister, Helen "Maureen" Cox Murphy, nephew Loren William Cox, sister-in-law Betty Javins Cox, and brother-in-law Carl D. Murphy, Sr.
John was a graduate of West Virginia University, was a retired Professional Engineer and licensed Land Surveyor, and was a member of Springdale Church of Christ.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Crookshanks Cox, his brothers Charles E. Cox of Liege, Belgium, and James W. Cox of Rainelle, and his beagle, Roscoe. Kathy would like to express her sincere love and gratitude to her brothers Timmy and Randy Crookshanks for their multitude of help.
Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Smathers Funeral Chapel in Rainelle, WV.
There will be a Celebration of Life sometime in July. Please, keep watch on the website for date and time.
