John Edward Kizer, 26, of Cool Ridge, WV, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 in Crab Orchard.

Born November 29, 1993 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Paul Kizer and Dawn Stalka Matherly and her husband Darrell of Calera, AL. He was a 2012 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley where he played baseball and basketball.

John was a genuine "momma's boy" and had a heart of gold. He was an outgoing, fun-loving, prankster, who loved to make people laugh.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul-Michael Kizer; sister, Lauryn Matherly; maternal grandfather, Michael Wood; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Ruby Kizer.

In addition to his mother and step-father, John is survived by two children he loved and adored, Aspen and Jude Kizer, and their mother Paige Howerton of Beckley; maternal grandmother, Sandra Wood of Shady Spring; one brother, Chase Brown; two sisters, Stacy Harker, and Melony Banks and husband Eric; niece and nephews, Nick and Allie Harker, and Jackson and Christian Bailey; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, including special cousin, Dustin Godby and wife Belinda.

In honoring John's wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Legacy Church in Beaver with Pastor Kelly Bowman officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour Saturday.
