Lawrence Garris Obituary
Lawrence Garris was born Nov. 20, 1936 in Killarney, WV to Rosie Bell Farmer, and John Harvey Garris.
He served in the USN from 1954-1959, sailing on the first guided missile cruiser The USS Boston, as a first class gunners mate. He explored the Mediterranean, sailed through the Panama Canal, and below the polar equator.
Lawrence married Patricia
Mae Cook of Sophia, WV on
March 7, 1959.
They moved to Chicago, where they started their family and his career as a master maintenance engineer with Mathias Klein & Sons Tool Factory in Skokie, IL, where he retired after 32 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 65+ years, Pat. His daughter Tammy, and son John, all of Sophia. -
Additionally, his beloved granddaughter Cheyenne and his precious great grandchildren Elijah and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son Lawrence "LC" Garris, who passed on Dec 19, 2018. Daddy is with you now.
He was an avid fisherman, jack of all trades, and a soft spoken kind soul. He
will forever be loved and missed by so many.
He has donated his body to science, for the advancement of medical research and education.
