Lena Mae Smith
Lena Mae Smith, age 84, of Coal City, WV passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on March 14, 1937 at Fireco, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Willard Bolen and Eva Blanche Lilly Bolen Sisk, and the step daughter of the late Ivan Sisk.
Lena, as she was known by family, and by "Mom Smith" in her neighborhood, was a homemaker. She dedicated her entire life to her family and her church, where she was a member of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church.
In her spare time Lena enjoyed gardening and planting beautiful flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jasper "Jack" Smith; a son Charles Eugene Smith; a grandson Charles "Chuckie" Smith II; by brothers, Eugene Bolen, Carlos Sisk, Clayton Bolen, and William Sisk.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children: James "Butter" Smith and wife Juanita of Jonben, WV, Patricia Acord and husband Wayne of Beckley, WV, Linda Sears of Crab Orchard, WV, and Jasper Smith and his girlfriend Michelle Holliday of Coal City, WV. Five sisters, Gladys Greer of Hawthorne, FL; Yvonne Howlett of Sprague, WV, Juanita McDaniel and husband Pete of Tilden Road, Glen Morgan, WV, Mary Howlett and husband Bud of Sprague, WV, and Connie Davis and husband Wayne of Pemberton, WV; a daughter -in-law, Sonya "Susie" Smith of Sophia, WV. Grandchildren: Roy Smith, Robin Hensley, James Smith II, Brittany Nicole Farmer, Penny Beighey, Trena Canady, Randi Kuhn, Jami Birchfield, Michell Allen, Candi Meadows, J.J. Smith, and Leyton Smith. Many great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 2 PM with Pastor Charlie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
The family will have a private viewing from noon until 1 PM, followed by a visitation period for friends to visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Wednesday.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
