Luella "Lu" Blanche Cale, 94, formerly of Hinton, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Rockin' Chair Residential Home in Lerona.

Born August 6, 1923, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Cam Burgess and Rachel Sumner Burgess Stuppio.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she lived in Oak Hill before moving to Hinton in 1962.

Lu retired as a social worker. She received her A.A. degree in Human Services from Beckley College and was a member of the Miller Memorial United Methodist Church in Hinton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Maxwell "Mack" Cale Sr.

She is survived by her loving children, Joyce C. Briers and husband Thomas of Bonita Springs, FL and

C. Max Cale and wife Wanda of Hinton; four grandchildren, Michael T. Briers and Rachel Briers Bell both of Ft. Myers, FL, Brian M. Cale of Hinton and Amy Cale Adkins of Princeton; eight great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
