Michael Dean Thompson, 67, of Princeton, died Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born July 6, 1953 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Lakie Joe Thompson and Geraldine Richmond Thompson.

Michael was a 1972 graduate of Athens High School, attended Concord University for 2 years, and later completed computer/electronic technician training in Roanoke, VA.

He was employed by Bluefield Beverage Company, Roses Stores, Inc., Swanson Plating, and Hillbilly Cycle. Michael was also owner/operator of Thompson's Hodaka Motorcycle Dealership in Athens.

Michael loved bluegrass gospel music, riding and repairing motorcycles, playing his banjo and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

While his health permitted, he attended the Athens Church of God, playing his banjo and singing with his wife, Linda.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by twin brothers, Joe and Jimmy Thompson and a sister, Shelby Jean Thompson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his caring and devoted wife of 30 years, Linda Thompson;

Step-children, Harold Stone, Dwight Stone, and Mikel Stone;

Grandchildren, Wyatt Stone, Xandra Stone, and Rebecca Stone.

Loving sisters, Mary Jo Mays (Butch) and Deborah Mathena;

Sisters-in-law, Brenda (Kenneth) Abram and

Marie (Tommy) Newberry;

Several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 12, 2021, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Stanley Metz and J.P. Mays officiating. Interment will follow in the Pennington/White Cemetery at Speedway. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Due to the Governor's mandate, masks and social distancing, will be observed. His services will be webcast by going to his obituary on the funeral homes website.
