Norma Jean (Trail) Sifers, a lifelong resident of Meadow Bridge, went to her new heavenly home, Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, in the CAMC/GVMC, following a long illness.
Born June 19, 1938, in the same house she made her home for her entire life, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Nina (Burdette) Trail.
Jean, don't call me Norma, was a member of the Lane United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, until its closing. She then attended Lick Creek Community Church. Jean loved singing with the Meadow Bridge Community Cantata Choir for their annual Easter and Christmas cantatas.
Jean was a cancer survivor and devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years Lonnie Sifers; five brothers James (Jimmy), Robert (Bobby), Donald (Rusty), Steve, Henry (Butch) Trail; infant twin sisters Shirley and Shelby Trail; one sister-in-law Bonnie (Johnson) Trail; one brother-in-law Burt Haynes; and one nephew Christopher Skaggs.
Survivors include two sons Dean (Debra) Sifers and Dale (Georgia) Sifers, both of Meadow Bridge; one brother Gary (Marcie) of Missouri; four sisters Gathlee Skaggs (John) of Missouri, Sandra Carter (Steve) of Clintonville, Marie Williams (Dave) of Wirtz, Virginia, and Debra Haynes of Elton; seven grandchildren Troy Sifers (Bille), Angela Lilly (Brett), Greg Sifers (Cecelia), Allison Callison (Jason), Laurel Zylo, Robert Tolosa, and Jason Tolosa; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, in the Lick Creek Community Church, with Pastor Adam Bragg officiating.
Burial will be in the Wickline Cemetery, Meadow Bridge.
Friends may call Thursday, October 24, at Smathers Funeral Chapel from 6 - 8 p.m. and 1 - 2 p.m. at the church before the funeral.
Donations of sympathy may be made to St. Judes 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
