Ruth Ellen Carroll, 78, of Rupert, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, in the Rainelle Health Care Center, following a long illness.

Born September 20, 1945, at Rupert, she was the daughter of the late William and Meave (Holland) McClung.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of Rupert. She was a graduate of Rupert High School and Beckley College. She was a member of The Bascom United Methodist Church in Rupert.

Ruth worked at Greenbrier Industries and later worked for The Defense Logistics Agency as an Inspector. She was retired from The Defense Logistics Agency.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Vickers; and two brothers Denvin and Bruce McClung.

Survivors include her son Lewis McClung (Leslie) of Rupert; one brother Gary McClung (Sharon) of Grandview; one sister Barbara Cutlip (Bob) of Florida; three granddaughters Jennifer Queen of Charleston, Mary Wolfe of Huntington, and Jessica Tolley (Josh) of Rupert; nine great- grandchildren Matthew and Jacob Murphy, Isla Queen, Alyssa, Lillian, and Scarlett Wolfe, and Eli, Don, and Gia Tolley; and a host of extended family and friends.

Per her request, the body was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date at the homeplace.
