Vernon Lee Maynor Obituary

Vernon Lee Maynor, 93, of Mt. Nebo, died Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in the Bowers Hospice House at Beckley.

Born July 8, 1931, at Sandlick, he was the son of the late Homer Fairbanks and Annie Elmo Miller Maynor.

Vernon was retired from C&P Telephone Company and served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Lizemores Nazarene Church, the Lions Club and was a former Boy Scout Leader.

He was also preceded in death by one son Steven Lee Maynor and brother Wayne Maynor.

Survivors include his wife, Avril Gay Cottrill Maynor; daughters, Alicia Ann Griffin of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary Elizabeth Whiteley of Mt. Lookout, Kara Lynn Harper and Brooklyn Zoey Hart, both of Oak Island, NC; sisters, Erma Jean Cook of Beckley, Virginia Owen and Bonnie Lester, both of Suffolk, VA; and several grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon on Saturday, February 15th, in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville, with Pastor John Bill Brown and Pastor Wayne Litton. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Sunset Cemetery at Bickmore. Friends may call at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
