William "Bill" Joseph Farmer, age 64, of Flat Top, West Virginia passed away at his son's home in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 28, 2022.
Born on January 30, 1958, at home during a snow storm in Oak Hill, West Virginia to Jimmie Carlton Farmer and Marietta Eloise Harris Farmer.
Bill is survived by his sons, Jeremiah Edward Farmer (Katie) and William Joseph Farmer, Jr., his grandchildren, Alexander David Farmer, Helen Marie Farmer, Violet Elizabeth Farmer, Freya Anne Farmer and Penelope June Farmer, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bill's interest in all manner of motors and mechanics started even before his brother, Rick, sold him his first motorcycle for $500 as a teenager. Over his lifetime, Bill owned many classic cars and trucks and mourned their parting. Bill had grease under his nails. He smelled of gasoline. The roar of a motor was his Zen. A student of automotive history. Chevy all the way. 69 corvette his most coveted grail. A proud good ole boy with skills that varied the age of internal combustion. An adventured man that traveled the country's highways for years in a Big Rig. Rocket Man was his handle on the CB. He ran fast and loud in every way. Watching behind the bend for Barney Fife. A sportsman, he loved hunting and baseball. The Cincinnati big red machine was his all-time favorite team. He loved delicious terribly unhealthy food and never denied himself ultimate indulgence. He made a great "spicy steak". His most cherished possessions had to be his Harley and his dog. He used to be able to "lay it down" but in his later years lost his nerve at 100 mph. Bill sank a boat one time with his son, Jeremiah, and we all still laugh at that every time we get together. He bellowed laughter like a child while watching his heroes Fred Flintstone and Homer Simpson. He was stubborn like his mother. His snoring was a weapon, but his face was a gift. He may be gone but he'll never be forgotten and if we're lucky he imprinted us with a bit of his quality.
A private memorial is planned for family and friends to celebrate and honor Bill's life. The service will be officiated by Pastor Richard Carbaugh of First Southern Baptist Church of Grandview.
